Siaya Education Foundation (SEF) – 2024 Annual Report

This Siaya Education program has now been active in delivering education, community and welfare services since 2014. Our website at https://siayaproject.org  carries specific detail that is recommended to better understand who we are, what we do and our achievements.

The formally registered Dutch entity, Stichting Siaya, has an overall guiding role supporting the local Kenya based SEF which is also officially registered in Kenya as an NGO and operates under the Leadership of Mr Ronald Ouma.

Our total income for the year was 12,960 Euro coming from both private and public sources.

One key activities include ongoing scholarships for secondary school children who are identified as gifted, but are unable to afford the Government school fees. This is a core activity and saw this year 16 kids sponsored. We will expand this to 20 kids for 2025 and look to grow the program going forwards.

Another key activity is our Mentorship Programme (Kidstar) which is supported by Stichting Siaya in the Netherlands. The programme has been ongoing since 2015 and held during the school holidays in April, August, and December. It targets young students between the ages of 14-25 years. It supports the students with their schoolwork, offering guidance and counselling to help them tackle life challenges, as well as creating a forum where young people can interact with professionals from government, private sector, civil society, and entrepreneurs. This program has grown significantly and now sees 400 – 600 kids attending each edition.

Additionally and through our private sponsors we continue to fund special students at University or other higher education institutions. This year saw one of our students graduate with a degree in Medical Engineering and another in Nursing.

Our organisation continues to evolve with increasing professionalism, organisational structures and an operating framework that is capable of positive external scrutiny as well as fulfilling those Statutory requirements that come with our Dutch and Kenyan registrations.

We sincerely thank all of our supporters for their trust, contributions and ongoing encouragement.
