Growing Beyond Donations: Stichting Siaya Turns Farming into Sustainable Income
At Stichting Siaya, we are exploring new ways to diversify our income and reduce our dependence on donations while continuing to support vulnerable and underprivileged students in Siaya County, Kenya. One of our initiatives focuses on vegetable farming as a potential source of sustainable income. By growing and selling fresh vegetables, we aim to generate additional funds to support students' school fees and educational needs, while making productive use of locally available resources.
This initiative goes beyond fundraising. By involving students in vegetable production, we also create opportunities for practical learning in agriculture, entrepreneurship and financial management. Our goal is to develop a sustainable income-generating model that strengthens Stichting Siaya's financial independence and enables us to support more children over time. Every harvest brings us one step closer to a future where our educational programmes are supported not only by donations, but also by income we generate ourselves.
